Round of 16 · Match #1 · Court 1 · Fri, Aug 7, 4:26 PM

Summary

Priyansh Sawant Dessai Opens Round of 16 With a 15-5, 15-4 Win

Priyansh Sawant Dessai needed only 11 minutes to move through the U11 Boys’ Singles Round of 16, defeating Darsh Kamat 15-5, 15-4 on Court 1. The top seed set the tone immediately, winning the first four rallies of game one and reaching the interval at 8-1.

Darsh briefly slowed the charge after the break, taking three of the next five rallies to make it 10-3. But Priyansh never surrendered the lead, closing the opening game 15-5. Game two began with Darsh taking the first rally, yet Priyansh answered with five of the next six points and led 8-2 at the interval.

The less obvious marker of the match was Priyansh’s start: he won eight of the 10 opening-game rallies recorded across the two games. His serve produced 20 wins from 29 points, while he won all 10 points listed on receive. Darsh’s nine points came largely as replies, with no points won from his 10 recorded serves.

Priyansh finished the second game on a 6-1 run, taking six of the final seven rallies after Darsh had reduced the margin to 9-3. Darsh Kamat’s best stretch came in the first game after the interval, but the seeded player’s early leads left no opening for a decider. Priyansh advances to the next round after a controlled straight-games victory.
