Sambhav Bhardwaj vs Itchit Prabhudessai

Round of 16 · Match #3 · Court 1 · Fri, Aug 7, 4:55 PM

Summary

Sambhav Bhardwaj Holds Off Itchit Prabhudessai in a 15-8, 15-12 Sweep

Two early rallies put Itchit Prabhudessai in front, but Sambhav Bhardwaj answered with four straight points and never surrendered the lead in the opener, taking it 15-8 in the Round of 16 on Court 1.

The second game was closer. Bhardwaj moved 5-2 ahead before Prabhudessai steadily worked back to 7-7. At 8-8, though, Bhardwaj found another decisive run, winning four consecutive rallies to create a 12-8 cushion. Prabhudessai trimmed it to 12-11, but Bhardwaj closed the match by taking three of the last four rallies for a 15-12 finish.

The less obvious split in the numbers came after the mid-game intervals: Bhardwaj won six of the nine rallies after them, while Prabhudessai won only three. That mattered especially in the second game, where the match was level at eight before Bhardwaj pulled away. Bhardwaj’s longest streak was four rallies; Prabhudessai’s best was three.

Bhardwaj, the No. 3 seed, completed the 2-0 victory in 13 minutes, advancing to match 10. Prabhudessai’s second-game recovery made the finish competitive, but Bhardwaj repeatedly rebuilt the margin when it mattered.
