Oorvi Khyalia Completes U9 Girls’ Singles Run Without Dropping a Game

Oorvi Khyalia turned a seven-player knockout into a three-match, six-game march to the title at the BPS State Badminton Ranking Tournament 2026 in Navelim. The unseeded competitor began with a 30–6 quarterfinal win over Urvi Lotliker, recorded at 10:15 am on 9 Aug 2026, then beat bye recipient Aarika Sawant 30–4 in the semifinal.

Samaira Velip reached the final after a quarterfinal walkover against Niya Shreevash and a 30–4 semifinal victory over Meher Aghicha. The quarterfinal between Aghicha and Shanaya Sah was the event’s longest played match at 16 minutes, finishing 30–15; it was also the closest by aggregate margin, though no match went to a decider.

The final, recorded at 3:14 pm, ended 30–12 for Khyalia. Velip led Khyalia by two points at one stage, but Khyalia’s largest recorded comeback came in that match. Across the event, Khyalia won 90 points and conceded 22, spending 32 minutes on court.

The shape of the draw is striking: the only walkover came before any points were played, while every completed contest finished 2–0. Khyalia’s semifinal was especially one-sided, with her winning 88% of the recorded points against Sawant. The champion’s clean 6–0 game record closes an event whose entire 191-point total was decided without a decider.
