Sharv Shenvi Goes From Qualifying to U11 Boys’ Singles Champion

Sharv Shenvi’s title run began with a qualifying bye and ended with an unbeaten 2–0 final win over Shloke Utagi at the BPS State Badminton Ranking Tournament 2026 in Navelim. The unseeded Shenvi won four played matches in the main draw, dropping no games and spending 50 minutes on court.

Qualifying reduced 11 entries to eight main-draw places. Venanzio Fernandes beat Advai Chodankar 2–0, Itchit Prabhudessai survived Vihaan Prabhudessai in a deciding game, and Akshat Dodiya defeated Harsheet Chari 2–0; Shenvi, Divyam Singh, Swapnil Ghosh, Darsh Kamat and Rajveer Tari advanced byes.

The Round of 16 opened with the top two seeds, Priyansh Sawant Dessai and Aariketh Chari, winning in straight games. Shenvi beat Vihaan Sahakari 30–5 on points, while Fernandes, Utagi and Namish Revankar also advanced without deciders. The round’s narrowest match belonged to fourth seed Mahipal Sinh Parmar, who edged Rajveer Tari 2–1 with only two points separating them across 86 points and 23 minutes.

The quarterfinals reshaped the draw: all three seeded players who played were eliminated. Shenvi beat first seed Priyansh Sawant Dessai 2–0, Fernandes beat third seed Sambhav Bhardwaj, and Utagi overturned an eight-point deficit to beat fourth seed Parmar 2–0. Second seed Chari survived Namish Revankar, who had earlier won 91% of his points against Swapnil Ghosh.

Shenvi then beat Fernandes 2–0, while Utagi defeated Chari 2–0. In the final, recorded at 3:32 pm on 9 Aug 2026, Shenvi beat Utagi 30–11. The draw’s defining shape was clear: the champion entered through qualifying, while the four seeded places produced no semifinalist except Chari—and none reached the final.
