Arjun Bhagat Reclaims Control to Beat Devansh Sakpal in Three Games
Arjun Bhagat opened the semifinal by taking the first four rallies, and although Devansh Sakpal narrowed the gap to 7-6, Bhagat answered with six of the next seven points to win the game 15-7.
Sakpal changed the match in the second game. He led 5-3, fell behind 7-6, then produced the decisive burst: six straight points carried him from 7-7 to 13-9. Bhagat trimmed the deficit to 14-11, but Sakpal closed the game 15-11 to force a decider.
The third game began with Bhagat again in front, 2-0, and the second seed reached the interval 8-4 ahead. Sakpal deserves credit for taking the middle game and turning a 6-7 deficit into a 10-7 lead, but Bhagat’s stronger opening and decisive response in the decider sent the second seed through.
