Rahul Deswal vs Vansh Khedkar

Qualifying Final · Match #23 · Court 1 · Fri, Aug 7, 7:50 PM

Summary

Rahul Deswal Turns a 4-1 Deficit Into a Straight-Games Qualifying Win

Rahul Deswal recovered from 4-1 down in the opening game, then pulled away to defeat Vansh Khedkar 15-10, 15-5 in 19 minutes on Court 1 and advance from the qualifying final.

Khedkar made the sharper start, taking four of the first five rallies. Deswal answered with three straight points to level at 4-4, and the game remained close through 7-7. The decisive sequence arrived after the 8-7 interval: Deswal won the next rally, surrendered one point, then strung together four more to move 13-8. Khedkar briefly cut the gap to 13-9, but Deswal closed the game 15-10.

The second game began with Deswal winning the first three rallies. Khedkar responded to 3-0 by taking two of the next three points, but Deswal restored control, reaching 8-3 at the interval and finishing with seven of the final nine rallies. The 15-5 score made the straight-games result clear.

The less obvious separator was Deswal’s opening-game recovery and his performance after the interval. He overcame a maximum three-point deficit, while Khedkar’s maximum surrendered lead was also three; after the interval, however, Deswal won six of nine rallies compared with Khedkar’s three. Deswal also took 20 of 30 rallies on his serve, while Khedkar won only five of 15 on his. Khedkar’s 15 points deserve credit for keeping the first game competitive, but Deswal’s stronger close carried him through.
