Final · Match #15 · Court 2 · Sun, Aug 9, 3:20 PM

Summary

Sharv Shenvi Controls the Final from the First Rally

Sharv Shenvi needed only 12 minutes to turn the U11 Boys' Singles final into a straight-games victory, beating Shloke Utagi 15-6, 15-5 on Court 2.

The decisive move came immediately. Shenvi won the opening three rallies, led 8-1 at the interval, and never allowed Utagi closer than five points after that early burst. Utagi briefly answered with two separate two-point runs, but Shenvi closed the first game by taking three of the final four rallies.

The second game opened differently: Utagi won the first rally, and the score reached 1-1. Shenvi then took four of the next five rallies to establish a 5-2 lead, extended it to 8-3, and finished with a seven-rally surge from 8-4 to 14-4. Utagi stopped that run with one point, but Shenvi ended the match on his next opportunity.

One less obvious separator was the opening phase of games: Shenvi won seven of the 10 game-start rallies recorded in the analytics, while Utagi won three. Shenvi also won all 12 rallies listed as his receiving opportunities, and his longest streak reached six; Utagi’s longest was one.

Utagi did manage to win 11 points overall and took three of nine clutch rallies, but Shenvi’s 30-11 total and two-game control settled the final.
