Rafael Anacleto De Ataide turned three matches on 9 August into a clean run through the U9 Boys’ Singles draw, finishing unbeaten with 102 points won against 45 lost and 49 minutes on court.

He began at 10:06 am against Arjun Pednekar, winning 15-4, 15-0 in nine minutes. The second-round match against Pranav Dhargalkar followed after a 43-minute gap; Rafael again won in two games, 15-5, 15-2, in 15 minutes. He then had 248 minutes before the final recorded match, against Divyam Singh at 3:21 pm.

That last match was the campaign’s test. Rafael took the opening game 15-12, lost the second 8-15, then won the decider 15-11. It was his longest match at 25 minutes and his only three-game contest. He overcame a deficit of two points during the match, while his maximum lead surrendered across the tournament was three.

The rally detail shows a clear pattern: Rafael won 73 of 99 rallies on his serve, compared with 29 of 48 on receive. He also won 25 of 35 rallies at game starts, and his longest winning streak reached 15. Yet his most balanced performance came late: he won 45 of 58 rallies in final games, compared with 42 of 66 in first games. After the tournament’s long wait and a deciding game, he closed stronger than he had opened.

With three completed wins, no walkovers and no retirements, Rafael’s campaign ended with the singles run intact and the third-round decider as its defining chapter.
